Elsworth House Patient Hostel

Addenbrookes and Sanctuary Management recently undertook a joint venture to provide appropriate overnight accommodation for patients living outside the hospitals catchment area within in the specialties of transplant, oncology, ophthalmology and neurosciences.

There are 8  flats which have a dedicated warden responsible for assisting the patients with checking in and making them feel comfortable throughout there stay.

Patient safety is one of the Trust's priorities and therefore potential occupants of the hostel will be screened by specified clinical criteria to ensure that appropriate people are approached and not all patients will be eligible for a room. Patients who stay within this new facility will be able to book in the evening prior to their appointment, or stay after, and relax before attending their appointment the following day or making their way home.

With the provision of this service it is intended that the patient care pathways will improve and ease pressure on bed occupancy.

How do you get there?

Elsworth house is positioned within the staff residences blocks adjacent to the multi storey car park and signposted from Keith Day road.

Please ask your specialist nurse or Ward if you require a hostel room.

Pemberton House

If you are not eligible for Elsworth House, or the rooms are full, you may be able to book a room at Pemberton house. This is also useful for if your parents or relatives want to stay nearby while you are in hospital. However, these rooms are not free and are maintained by The Frank Lee centre. Please click on the link below for more information or ask your specialist team.
